Wood Burning Stove

We had a wood burning stove fitted back in May of 2008. With our solar panels reducing our electricity costs, we thought it was time to reduce our gas costs as well. We chose a wood burning stove because wood is carbon neutral; the CO2 it releases when burnt is equal to the CO2 it absorbed during it's growth.

The logs have to be seasoned, meaning that they have to have dried out for a year. They burn more efficiently, with less smoke, than unseasoned logs. Our plan is to buy logs from the local countryside park and store them for a year. It only costs £15 to fill the boot of our estate car. The logs we are currently using are pre-seasoned and so are more expensive.
